About This Site

In the aftermath of the senseless killing of a beloved Border Collie, I found my voice for Alabama’s animals. I knew a crime had been committed — but what happens next? Deciphering the criminal justice system was a challenge at every step, and I am immensely grateful to the advocates who illuminated the path. This website was born from my desire to share this knowledge, to empower residents to take effective action for Alabama’s dogs and cats — indeed, to be an Alabama Animal Advocate.
The site is a collaboration of advocates with experience in animal control, shelter direction, legislation, cruelty investigation and prosecution, and reporting on animal topics. Although I am not at the liberty to share their names, their contributions to this site are invaluable.
The information we share has been gleaned through firsthand experience, research, and conversations with officials and volunteers across Alabama. It is continuously refined based on new learnings and newfound opportunities to communicate more clearly. We welcome your suggestions on what could be most helpful to those who speak for the animals of Alabama.
