Alabama Animal Advocates

About This Site

Border Collie playing on beach.

On Feb. 5, 2024, one voice was silenced and another learned to speak: the killing of a neighbor’s beloved dog was the devastating day that I found my voice for Alabama’s animals.

Only through the guidance of advocates was it possible to navigate the tangled web of animal control, cruelty law, and the criminal justice system. This website was born from my desire to share what I learned, to empower effective action for Alabama’s dogs and cats.

AlabamaAnimalAdvocates.com is an informal collaboration of people around the state with experience in animal control, shelter management, legislation, cruelty investigation, and reporting on animal topics. Many are named and credited throughout the site. Others choose to contribute behind the scenes. Our work is completely independent and pro bono.

We welcome your comments, questions, or suggestions.
