Randolph County Animal Shelter is a nonprofit that contracts with the county. Compensation is provided through “a consistent amount each month plus a percentage of the tobacco tax,” per Vanessa Burnside of Randolph County Commission.

Animal Control in Unincorporated Areas of Randolph County: Randolph County has no animal control officers. For assistance, contact Randolph County Sheriff’s Office at 256-357-4545 or Randolph County Commission at 256-357-4980.

Dog Confinement Requirements in Randolph County
County Adoption of Alabama’s Dog Confinement Statute: Dog confinement is not required in unincorporated Randolph County because the Randolph County Commission has not adopted Alabama Code § 3-1-5, which would require that dogs be confined to the owner’s premises or kept in the charge of a responsible person if off-premises. There are still steps you can take to address issues or to encourage the county to require confinement.
Dog Confinement Requirements Within Corporate Limits & Police Jurisdiction:
- Roanoke Ordinance 705 requires confinement of female dogs while in heat and prohibits dogs to be allowed to run at large on public school grounds.
- Wadley, Wedowee, Woodland: These municipalities do not appear to share their ordinances on their websites or via Municode. Please email us if you can share information.
